2012 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art Contest
The theme for the 8th Annual Art in the Gardens Contest is"Unity in the Community: What steps will you take to make your community more unified?" Your assignment is to think about the impact Dr. King had in our history which molded how our or present society lives. Thanks to the dedication, sacrifices, and hard work of Dr. King we are able to experience freedom and a sense of equality. Be creative! Your artwork can be a realistic depiction or an abstract representation. Any form of artwork is acceptable, as long as it is original.

Rules
The art contest is open to all City of Miami Gardens residents.
Only one piece of art per participant can be submitted.
Only original art piece will be accepted.
Artwork must be received at Miami Gardens City Hall BLDG 5, Suite 200 by January 6, 2012.
Winners will be notified on January 16, 2012.
Winning participants must agree to allow the City of Miami Gardens to reproduce, in whole or part, their artwork in print or electronic form. Proper attribution will be made.
Submission Guidelines:
Artwork can be no larger than 24 X 36.
Original artwork must be mailed or hand delivered to the City in an envelope (do not fold or bend artwork).
Artwork can be created using paint, pencil, markers, ink, crayons, chalk, pastels, computer graphics, or photography.
Please do not submit artwork on notebook paper.
Artwork can be in the form of a painting, drawing, photograph, or computer generated image.
Place name, address and contact phone number on the back of your artwork.
Submissions will not be returned and become property of the City of Miami Gardens once they are submitted.
A completed Submission Form must be submitted with the artwork.
Artwork will be judged on originality, creativity, and adherence to theme.
